For a season of my life, my focus was taking care of everyone else.

I became a full-time caregiver for my mother-in-law while also working a full-time job. I was doing what so many caregivers do… putting one foot in front of the other, making sure everyone else had what they needed.

But somewhere along the way, I started putting my own health needs on the back burner.

I was tired. I was exhausted. My energy was not where I wanted it to be, and I realized my body was trying to tell me something.

One of the biggest lessons I learned during my wellness journey was that my body needed me to pay attention.

It needed proper nourishment. It needed support. It needed me to stop ignoring the signs and start listening.

Protein became one of the areas I knew I needed to focus on.

After doing my own research, which has become one of the most valuable things I have learned to do, I found a plant-based protein powder that fit my needs and my lifestyle.

Because I had my gallbladder removed, I discovered that my body does not always digest red meat well. Finding a protein source that worked for me was important.

What I appreciated was how simple it was to make part of my everyday routine.

Two scoops of protein powder mixed with eight ounces of water gave me an easy way to add protein into my day. I also found creative ways to use it, like adding it into my pancake mix, making it easier to support my nutrition without complicating my life.

But this journey has taught me something much bigger than just adding more protein.

It has taught me to slow down and listen.

For years, I was focused on caring for others. I learned that caring for myself is not selfish. It is necessary.

Our bodies are constantly communicating with us. They tell us when they need rest, nourishment, movement, and support.

We just have to learn how to listen.

This is what I call “Learning to Love and Understand Your Body” through my own wellness journey.

Because sometimes beginning again starts with one small step… and choosing to take care of yourself.
