How does exercise affect my mental health?
Category:In my last article on Stress, my first tip was to try to get some exercise.
Did you know that every week an adult should get 150 minutes of moderate physical activity? This may seem like a lot, but if you broke it down to 30 minutes a day, you receive the same benefit. Not sure if you’d like a gym? Start with 30 minutes a day by walking outside fresh air is good for everyone. Try looking at exercises on YouTube, if the gym is not for you.
In September 2020, I notice a poster at my doctor’s office of a new exercise clinic that was to open, called Live Well Exercise Clinic – The Ultra-Private Gym. Intrigued by “The Ultra-Private Gym” I called and asked for information. The owner Michelle had offered my first free workout session.
The Ultra-Private Gym is not an ordinary gym. It’s allowing me to take control of my health. It’s a culture of acceptance, comfort, care and kindness. My first free session started with a thorough functional and cardio-respiratory assessment. This was done so they could establish my body’s level of fitness and my heart’s ability to exercise. A customized exercise program was tailored toward my health needs and goals.
Honestly, I can say that this exercise program has reduced my stress levels, relieve my anxiety, and released my endorphins and I showed my emotional side with tears and laughter. There was no judgment by anyone who attend the same session as me.
Today, tomorrow and every other day I continue to show up for my sessions because working out is adding days to my life.
